چکیده
The existence of radioactivity linked to the heavy-bearing minerals in building materials—such as granite—has increased attention extraction procedure. Granite rocks play an essential economic role various areas Egypt. Thus, this study intended detect 238U, 232Th, and 40K activity concentrations examined granite samples determine corresponding radiological risks associated with granite. studied were collected Gabal Qash Amir area (south Eastern Desert, Egypt). obtained results for 238U (193 ± 268) Bq/kg, 232Th (63 29) (1034 382) Bq/kg indicated that there moderate investigated samples, which greater than worldwide average. levels are due secondary alteration radioactive-bearing cracks granites (secondary muscovite wolframite, uraninite, uranophane, beta-uranophane, autunite, xenotime, columbite, zircon, monazite). risk assessment public from radionuclides was predicted via estimating hazard factors, such radium equivalent content (362 Bq kg−1), compared recommended limit. dosing rate Dair air (169.2 nGy/h), annual effective dose both outdoors (AEDout ~ 0.21 0.17 mSv) indoors (AEDin 0.83 0.67 mSv), gonadal (AGDE 1.18 0.92 well external (Hex) internal (Hin) indices (>1), another factor excess lifetime cancer risk. According statistical investigation, inappropriate use construction infrastructure fields. They may induce health problems levels, exceed limits.

Pan-African granite emplacement mechanisms in the Eastern Desert, Egypt
The late Pan-African Fawakhir, Urn Had and Urn Effein Granite Plutons in the Egyptian Central Eastern Desert are small, elongate to circular bodies of pink monzogranite and syenogranite, and grey monzodiorite. Structural investigation of the intrusive contacts of these plutons reveals marginal sub-horizontal intrusive sheets as magma injection along preexisting flat-lying structures including m...
متن کاملRadiological Hazard Resulting from Natural Radioactivity of Soil in East of Shazand Power Plant
Introduction: Nuclear radiation is potentially harmful to humans and soil contamination with radionuclides is the main source of human radiation exposure. These radionuclides can., enter to human body through the food chain. In this study, 34 soil samples were collected from between Arak city and Shazand Power Plant over 20 km length and analyzed. Materials and Methods: The specific activities ...
متن کاملGeochemical Characteristics and Chemical Electron Microprobe U-Pb-Th Dating of Pitchblende Mineralization from Gabal Gattar Younger Granite, North Eastern Desert, Egypt
Pitchblende mineralization was studied in the younger granite samples collected from Gabal Gattar, north Eastern Desert, Egypt using electron scanning microscope (ESM) and electron probe microanalyses (EPMA). This study revealed that this pitchblende contains significant Zr content reaching up to (66.80% ZrO2), which suggests that volcanic rocks were probably the source of such a deposit. High ...

Background: The natural radioactivity levels in ceramic tiles produced in Turkey were determined and the related radiological hazards were assessed. Materials and Methods: The natural radioactivity levels (226Ra, 232Th and 40K) in the ceramic tiles were measured using high-purity germanium detector system (HPGe) and the related radiological hazards were assessed by radium equivalent activity (R...
